Xmas Day in New York ended with me wandering back to pack and Jewel off to see a movie.

And then we found:
New York SKYRIDE is an awesome aerial tour of New York City that sends you on a ride around, above and even below all that the City has to offer... and you feel the sights from the comfort of a specially equipped, motion-simulated, big screen theater seat! Through the magic of advanced flight simulation, New York Skyride puts the passenger in the middle of the action.

We walked off the meal by cruising to the Empire State. The queue for the ride up was 2 hours so we just looked at the foyer.

We spotted a cosy eating spot under the Empire State and hoed into steacks and fries, backporch lemonade, pina colada, papaya daquiris and margarheritas. O and pecan pie.

You can see the top of the Empire State Building!! What a beautiful day!!!!

Xmas Day dawned clear and beatiful and we wandered down 34th street to Herald Square.

A contented little reigndear on xmas eve
in the Big Apple!!

We seem to end up at the Tick Tock Diner more often than not becasue the food is very welcomig and the bellboys call us "girls" and make us laugh.

We caught Full Moon Lightnin Floyd Lee and his Mean Blues Band at the Herald Square underground station.

The Empire State Building is all decked out in xmas colours.

We checked out the wonderful Macy's "Miracle on 34th street"windows.

We staggered home with heaps of presents (for others as well)

A squillion other people also decided to invest in faux everything.

Then it was a big brekkie at the local diner and off to Canal Street for some serious xmas bling shopping

I have posted my stuff back from all over the world but nothing beats my new york postal experience. I lugged my huge box full of winter coats and shoes up the many steps to this beautiful post office near our hotel. And then the problems began.
*queue large as there were only 4 clerks open in this huge space, one for philatelic.
*when i eventually got to the head of the queue i proceeded to a window without a bell ringing and got shouted at.
*i was shouted at by the fat controller to get back at the end of the queue but luckily the mile of people help me plead my case
*when it was eventually my turn i got the same lady who already hated me
*you can only ship by air.....not ship.....who would have thunk
*after being yelled at agin for the wrong tape, the wrong everything I explained i was an idiot from australia and could she please explain the foibles of her wonderful country
*i was told to go over to the side and put proper tape on, and fill out forms with my address as sender and receiver and return to her
*then she shut her window and i was left mid queue (now longer) and a new window
*the new window man yelled at me to go away and when i explained he arksed me what the lady looked like ....."black"i said........oooops
*he beckoned me over and I helped him by saying that i wanted to go whatever she had said
*he yelled that i was on his tirf now and he would tell me.......
*what seems hours later with the confusion about the receiver and sender resolved and the form firmly affixed over my carefully written address and not on the rest of the blank box
*o dear he said i forgot to measure the box nad then proceeded to carefully measure and tut tut and
*i just bloody made the size restriction and he just missed being murdered
*and then whe i offered to pay he said if i didn't my beautidul box would burn in the furnace of hell
*and then he wished me happy holidays

The joy of Christmas is everywhere!!!!!!!!!!!!

Her wonderful Virginia Barrett quilt brings back memories.

Her friend Jerry popped in as well.

Amanda is a great cook so I grabbed the chance for a home cooked goumet pasta meal.

It was amazing to see Amanda's apartment decked out in all the furniture t hat I knew very well from both her house and our friend Steven's house in Adelaide. Spooky.

We went for a walk to get provisions for Amanda's Xmas feasting.

Amanda lives in a cute little apartment in a building with aluminium siding.

It was a late start to the day after the day before and I was off to Williamsburg to see a friend from Australia.......................Amanda McDonald Crowley.

As we were all screaming the words to ""Dancing Queen", the lovely Bruce whispered to me

B they are a swedish group i believe
D yeah, Abba
B o.........you have heard of them then
D well..........................I'm australian
B (looks quissical)

What else could i say? and then It made me wonder what Bruce thought of me and I laughed and returned to yelling the words.

Charlie lives over the road from a wonderful diner, but we were too full so we went up to his apartment and ate mallowmars biscuits and listened to tales of new york..........a wonderful ending to a wonderful day. I'm gonna pay for this tomorrow if i ever get out of bed!! zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

And then it was SEE YA LATER LUVVERLIES and we were off in the back of Charlie's car (and i got the way way back because my coat looked most like a dog) to see some ore of New York from the 17th floor of Waverly Place, West Village.

In case you are wondering, YES, I did dance for the first time in many years, and if there ARE photos of me they will never find their way onto this blog.

We all went back to Bruce and Diane Gregory's wonderful house for dinner

After the wedding ceremony, we all settled in to the beauriful church hall for a reception. Here is a smiling Anne with her friend Taylor.

I always cry at weddings and so my pics are really blurry as sobbing and camera steady don't mix. Here Annie Hogan comes down the aisle looking absolutely gorgeous with Charlie and Annmarie on either side.

WEDDING DAY AND THE CHURCH.................. GRACE CHURCH IN BROOKLYN ..................... LOOKED STUNNING!!

Anne Gregory couldn't get the grin off her face

There was lots of wine and laughing and wonderful food and things started to get a little blurry. NO FRIENDS..... ANNIE HAS NOT GROWN 3 CHINS!!

It all started well. This Charlie, a dear friend of Annie Hogan's that she met at uni in Chicago. He will be "giving her away" at the wedding along with her childhood friend AnnMarie.

Annie Hogan and her partner Anne Gregory are getting hitched tomorrow and Anne's parents Bruce and Dianne have kindly invited all the out of town guests to dinner at Mai in Brooklyn.

One last goodbye to Judy before we head off to the "out of towners" party in Brooklyn.
